JetPack 2.2.5 DO NOT INSTALL!

If you’re using WordPress you may be like me, always updating the plugins. Well do not update to JetPack by WordPress version 2.2.5, or if you do be very careful.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_editable_roles() in /home/johnishcom/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/stats.php on line 219

While I love JetPack by WordPress as it provides many awesome features available on WordPress.org to those who have their own installs. The most recent update bite me in the ass.

If this happens to you, here is how to get your site back online.

  1. go to your site http://www.mysiteurl.com/wp-admin
  2. Login if you aren’t already
  3. Click Plug-ins
  4. Find the JetPack and click disable

Thank you all for the reports. Other Jetpack users have reported similar issues in this thread. We worked on a fix, that will available in the next Jetpack release (ref: r706924-plugins).
Meanwhile, you should be able to work around the issue by loading just one wp-admin page after upgrading the plugin. This should trigger stats_upgrade_options and solve the issue.
